The Q&A series continues with our dispute resolution solicitor, Vanessa Lovell.
Can you tell me a bit about yourself and explain the type of work you do for Loosemores Solicitors?
My name is Vanessa Lovell and I recently started working at Loosemores as a specialist dispute resolution solicitor. I qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and specialised in resolving civil and commercial disputes, advising for both individuals and corporate clients.
What are some of the challenges in your role?
I always strive to achieve a successful outcome for my clients. However, being involved in a dispute can be a stressful, time consuming and expensive experience for many. I believe it is important to be realistic with clients, understand their needs and provide the best advice possible.
What do you find rewarding about your work?
Successfully navigating through complex legal matters to a positive outcome can be a very rewarding process. My goal is always to help my clients achieve the right outcome as quickly and cost-effectively as possible while keeping conflict to a minimum.
What are the most important lessons you’ve learned during your career in litigation?
My experience over the past 10 years has taught me that no two cases are the same. It is important to recognise that every client and every dispute is unique. I always make sure that my clients feel listened to and in control at every stage of the dispute resolution process.
What advice would you give to someone concerned about a legal issue?
Most of us will need legal advice at some point in our lives. By having a legal expert by your side, someone who knows how the law operates, you can be assured on the most appropriate strategy to resolve your dispute.
