Loosemores is delighted to have advised Project Blu on its early stage investment from a group of US venture capital funds.
Project Blu is a socially responsible brand revolutionising the pet accessories market by converting polluting materials such as ocean-bound plastic waste into top quality dog beds, cat beds, leashes and toys.
This is an exciting period for Project Blu, as it looks set for further growth and expansion by participating in the Leap Venture Studio (Leap) accelerator programme.
Leap is a partnership between Kinship — a division of Mars Petcare, R/GA Ventures and Michelson Found Animals. Alongside a $200,000 investment, the Leap program will give Project Blu the opportunity to present to industry leaders, partners, investors, and customers from the technology and innovation community, at the first-ever conference exploring the future of pet care.
Siôn Tudur, Partner in the Corporate and Commercial team at Loosemores, commented:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Project Blu, as it aims to become a global leader for sustainable pet products. It is a business with great potential, and we hope this opportunity will be a springboard for tackling the environmental impact of the pet care industry.”
Geryn Evans, CEO Project Blu, added:
“The idea for Project Blu was only conceived in December 2018. Since then the business has accelerated at a rapid pace. We are now selling products across the globe and are very excited to be part of the Leap Ventures 2020 cohort in Los Angeles. Project Blu is proud to represent the Welsh start-up scene and prove that we can compete with the best on a global scale.
Siôn and the Loosemoores team have been a pleasure to deal with during the investment process. They have provided a huge amount of advice and support on the complex task of international investment. Loosemoores have proven to be highly flexible, efficient and went ‘above and beyond’ the normal lawyer/client relationship to help us secure the investment.”
