Spectrum, the Cardiff based broadband service provider, has announced a landmark investment from Infracapital, the infrastructure equity investment arm of M&G Plc and one of Europe’s leading infrastructure investors, to deliver its initial £200m plan.
The deal provides cornerstone funding and enables Spectrum to push forward with its ambitious plan to build full fibre broadband infrastructure across south Wales, transforming the digital landscape for underserved communities within the region.
Corporate and Commercial Partner, Siôn Tudur, led the Loosemores team advising on the investment and was supported by solicitors Elle McCook, Hywel Thomas and Adam Munn.
The investment will allow Spectrum to bring fibre-to-the-premises services – which are faster, more reliable, and greener than traditional wired broadband networks – directly to at least 150,000 Welsh homes and businesses as part of the initial build.
Siôn Tudur, commented:
“We are very pleased to have had an opportunity to assist our client, on this landmark investment. The development plans will ensure that Wales is ahead of the curve and will benefit communities and businesses across the country. We look forward to supporting Spectrum in becoming one of the leading providers of full fibre broadband in Wales.”
Giles L. Phelps, Managing Director of Spectrum commented:
“This investment signals an exciting time for us at Spectrum as we look to be Wales’ biggest and best homegrown broadband service provider, and a key contributor to helping shape the future Welsh economy. I have nothing but good things to say about Sion and the team at Loosemores. They were on point with everything and the entire team has been great to work with throughout the investment process.”
