Welsh Government extends measures to protect businesses from eviction

protect businesses from eviction

The Welsh Government has announced it is extending the measures to protect businesses affected by Covid-19 from eviction, until 31 December, 2020. The extension to the moratorium on commercial lease forfeitures was due to end on 30 September.

Although rent due should be paid whenever possible, this measure will ensure no business is forced out of its commercial premises if it misses a payment between now and the end of the year.

The UK Government has published a Code of Practice to encourage commercial tenants and landlords to work together to protect viable businesses.
