Coronavirus Update: UK Businesses to receive three-month extension period for filing accounts

accounts

UK Businesses will have longer to prepare their accounts and report their results following a joint initiative by the UK Government and Companies House.

Companies House, which registers limited companies and provides company information to the public, requires businesses to submit their accounts and reports each year and any that do so late are usually issued with an automatic penalty.

As part of the agreed measures, companies will still have to apply for the 3-month extension and those citing coronavirus will automatically and immediately be granted an extension.

This joint initiative between the UK Government and Companies House will mean businesses can prioritise managing the impact of the Coronavirus.

Applications can be made through an online system which will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
