Loosemores League Cup Final news
03/05/11
Park Avenue, Aberystwyth was the venue for the final of the 2010/11 Loosemores League Cup, contested by The New Saints and Llanelli. With a little over 15 minutes to go, The New Saints had taken a 2-0 lead and looked like they were heading for victory. However, Llanelli pulled the game back to 2-1, and there followed a thrilling final 15 minutes, with four more goals, for the score at the end of normal time at 3-3. The teams were evenly matched during extra time, but then, with a penalty shoot-out seeming inevitable, a superb strike from Scott Ruscoe in the last minute of extra time sealed victory for The New Saints.
With two goals and an assist, Chris Sharp was selected as the Loosemores Man of the Match.
The cup and the medals were presented by Loosemores Senior Commercial Partner, Michael Culley. Michael commented after the game that the standard of football had been very high, in spite of the blustery conditions, and that both sides had scored some very good goals in an exciting game.
Loosemores would like to extend its congratulations to The New Saints, commiserations to Llanelli, and a big thank you to
Aberystwyth Town for being excellent hosts for the day.
