Human Rights Act Issues

Under the Human Rights Act 1998 the UK Courts are required to interpret our laws in accordance with the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. The Act impacts on all aspects of employment law and court and tribunal proceedings.

Since the Act came into effect (2nd October 2000), we have brought cases under the Act and are currently involved in a major test case in the Appeal Courts. This case may proceed to the European Court of Human Rights.
